
MATTHEW BAUER
Matthew Bauer is a creative and empathetic founder, communicator, and leader of organizations and teams, with a focus on forging cross-sector partnerships and community, using technology and digital society as a tool for improving the planet and people’s lives. Matthew has cofounded, launched, and managed three social ventures, while building cross-sector partnerships, community-wide initiatives, and envisioning, ahead of the curve, this moment where digital equity has taken center stage in the U.S. and world.
Currently, Matthew is serving as Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) with Venture Partners at CU-Boulder as part of CU Venture Partners' new Embark technology transfer program. As a pioneer in the world of B Corps, Matthew continues to focus on BetterWorld Technology, a nationwide managed IT services provider and founding B Corp he cofounded in 2002.
As Connected Communities Lead at the Wireless Research Center, a national nonprofit based in the Research Triangle region, Matthew created and led the DigitalBridge initiative a group focused on community-level efforts to upskill and connect those in the digital divide with jobs and careers in the digital economy. Also on the Digital Equity front, he was appointed in late 2021 by Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel to the Federal Communication Commission's Council on Equity Diversity and Inclusion (CEDC), where he led the Digital Equity/Upskilling workstream.
Since 2019, as Director of Communications and Investments, Matthew has been part of the leadership team helping create, build, and grow Azafran Capital Partners, a NYC-based venture capital firm focused on commercializing companies using voice, acoustics and imagery as input modalities into machine learning and artificial intelligence for B2B and medtech markets.
As a noted communicator across all forms of media, Matthew's specialty is corporate communications, from content creation to communications strategy and program management. Music, writing and public speaking are life-long passions for him as well: From 2-4 MT Wednesdays, he hosts Mateo's Magic Bus on KFFR 88.3-FM in Winter Park, CO (www.MateosMagicBus.com).
